STEM Scholarship Overview
The Timekeeper Society STEM Scholarship is dedicated to supporting future innovators and problem-solvers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. We are seeking high school seniors and undergraduate students who demonstrate a passion for STEM fields and a commitment to making a meaningful impact in their communities. The application window is open from January 1 to March 31, with a strict cutoff date of March 31 at 11:59 PM EST. Finalists will be notified in early May, and scholarship awards will be announced on June 1. This scholarship aims to empower students with the resources they need to achieve their academic and professional goals in STEM disciplines.

STEM Scholarship Review Process

Phase 1: Initial Screening (2 weeks)
Administrative staff reviews applications for:
– Completion of all required forms
– Meeting basic eligibility requirements
– GPA minimum
– STEM major declaration
– Enrollment status
– Required documents (transcripts, letters of recommendation)

Phase 2: Technical Review (3 weeks)
STEM professionals and educators evaluate:
– Academic achievement (30%)
– GPA in STEM courses
– Advanced coursework
– Academic awards
– Research/Project Experience (25%)
– Science fair participation
– Independent research
– Technical projects
– Leadership & Extracurricular Activities (20%)
– STEM club involvement
– Mentoring experience
– Community service
– Essays & Recommendations (25%)
– Career goals
– Impact statement
– Letters of recommendation

 

STEM Scholarship Review Process

 

Phase 3: Final Selection (2 weeks)
Selection committee consisting of:
– 2 STEM industry professionals
– 2 educators
– 1 nonprofit board member
– 1 previous scholarship recipient (if available)

The committee will:
1. Review top 20% of applications
2. Conduct virtual interviews with finalists
3. Select winners and alternates
4. Document selection rationale

Evaluation Rubric
Each application scored 1-5 in these categories:
1. Academic Excellence
2. STEM Passion & Commitment
3. Leadership Potential
4. Financial Need
5. Overall Impact

Communication Timeline
– Confirmation of receipt: Within 48 hours of application
– Status updates: Monthly during review process
– Finalist notification: 1 week before interviews
– Final decisions: March 15
– Public announcement: April 1

Feedback Process
– All applicants receive general feedback
– Finalists receive detailed feedback if requested
– Appeals process available for procedural issues only
– Annual review of process effectiveness

Conflict of Interest
– Reviewers must disclose any relationships with applicants
– Reviewers recuse themselves from evaluating related applicants
– Documentation of all recusals maintained
